International Journal of Research in Education and Science

The International Journal of Research in Education and Science (IJRES) is a peer-reviewed scholarly online journal. The IJRES is published quarterly in Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

There is no publication fee in the IJRES.

The IJRES is an international journal and welcomes any research papers on education and science using techniques from and applications in any technical knowledge domain: original theoretical works, literature reviews, research reports, social issues, psychological issues, curricula, learning environments, book reviews, and review articles.

The focus of the journal is mainly on education so submissions from science areas should have educational aspects. The journal is aimed at covering educational topics.

The articles should be original, unpublished, and not in consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of submission to the IJRES.

Please consider that editor and reviewers invest significant time in the submission. Thus, the submission cannot be withdrawn without the approval of the editorial office during the review, the revision, the production after acceptance or publication process.

The submission is first reviewed by the editorial team. This initial review is completed in two weeks. If the submission passes the initial review, then the blind review takes about 6 months.

The journal has a double-blind review process. Any manuscript submitted for consideration in publication in the regular or special issue of the journal is reviewed by at least two international reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.

The final author versions of the papers should be proofread in terms of language and APA style. If any paper does not meet the language and/or APA style standards at any level of review or publication process, then it will be rejected.

The template is not mandatory for articles submitted for review. The template can be used for accepted papers.

Special Issue on ChatGPT in Education

We are delighted to announce a special issue of the International Journal of Technology in Education (IJTE) dedicated to exploring the implications of ChatGPT, a powerful generative AI tool, in the field of education. The introduction of ChatGPT in education has sparked debates about its potential implications for education. While advocates of ChatGPT praise its ability to support education for instance in terms of providing adaptive and personalised environments, there are some concerns about the ethical considerations of ChatGPT, as well as its potential negative effects on assessment practices, scientific integrity, and students’ higher-order thinking skills (Farrokhnia et al., 2023). Therefore, it is essential to understand how to best utilize this novel AI tool in education to enhance current practices. This special issue aims to convene researchers, educators, and practitioners to share insights, research findings, and innovative approaches related to the use of ChatGPT in educational settings.

We invite submissions of original research papers with robust conceptual and theoretical contributions and/or rigorous empirical designs using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed approaches to investigate the integration of ChatGPT in education. We encourage studies conducted in various educational contexts, including K-12 and higher education, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential applications and challenges of ChatGPT across different levels of education.

Authors are invited to explore a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Personalized learning experiences and adaptive instruction using ChatGPT
  • Leveraging ChatGPT for individualized feedback and support
  • ChatGPT's role in facilitating student engagement and motivation
  • Collaborative learning and group interactions facilitated by ChatGPT
  • ChatGPT's impact on student autonomy and agency in the learning process
  • Fostering creativity and problem-solving skills through ChatGPT
  • Project-based and experiential learning with ChatGPT
  • Assessing the impact of ChatGPT on learning outcomes
  • ChatGPT for formative and summative assessment in educational contexts
  • Evaluation and assessment methods leveraging ChatGPT for feedback
  • Peer-feedback and peer-assessment using ChatGPT
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of ChatGPT-generated content in education
  • Language learning and translation support with ChatGPT
  • Innovative pedagogical strategies for integrating ChatGPT in classrooms
  • Teacher training and professional development for effective utilization of ChatGPT
  • Ethical considerations in the use of ChatGPT in education
  • Addressing bias and inclusivity challenges in ChatGPT-based education
  • ChatGPT and its implications for educational policy and practice

We encourage authors to provide evidence-based insights, empirical studies, and/or theoretical frameworks that contribute to our understanding of ChatGPT's effective integration in education. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and relevance of the published articles.

For detailed instructions on manuscript preparation and submission, please refer to the International Journal of Technology in Education's submission guidelines. Should you have any inquiries or require clarifications, please feel free to contact the guest editors:
